Networks’ WiMAX-Class 3.5 GHz Systems in Launch
of Broadband Wireless Access Across Holland |
| Top-tier Dutch wireline
operator leverages carrier-class wireless to expand
reach, speed, scalability, robustness and QoS |

| Milpitas, Calif.,
and Rotterdam, Holland, (October 26,
2004) – Enertel, one of Holland’s
largest data and telecom operators for the business
market, and the country’s largest wholesale
provider to independent Dutch ISPs, has launched
a national rollout of business-class broadband wireless
access (BWA) services. This service is now available
in Rotterdam and will be extended to Amsterdam,
the Hague, Utrecht and Eindhoven before the end
of this year. By the end of 2005 the network will
offer national coverage. Enertel's wireless network
is being exclusively deployed using Aperto Networks’
3.5 GHz WiMAX-class PacketWave® systems.
Enertel’s first BWA customer is RoutIT, a
Rotterdam-based supplier of network services to
ICT resellers across the Netherlands. |
| |
| “Aperto’s PacketWave
has been thoroughly proven as the business carrier’s
wireless broadband system of choice, and gives us
unparalleled reach, speed of deployment, business-grade
capacity and Quality of Service (QoS),” said
Cees Meeuwis, CEO of Enertel. “We chose Aperto
Networks because of these capabilities, and because
of PacketWave's full WiMAX-class functionality.
The company is leading the market in meeting all
critical 802.16 carrier-class requirements.” |
| |
| Formed as the combination
of nine cable and energy companies in 1994, Enertel
successfully leveraged the Dutch telecom market
deregulation to bring telephony and wireline access
services to individuals and ventures across the
Netherlands. It serves the entire Dutch data and
telecommunications business market with innovative
services in VoIP, IP VPNs, E-1 connectivity and
wholesale services, both wireless and wireline.
|
| |
| “Enertel is a one of
Europe’s new leaders in broadband services.
Through its Aperto-powered network, Enertel can
now deliver carrier-class robustness, scalability
and QoS in all of its business services, to Holland's
top metros,” emphasized Aperto CEO and Chairman
Reza Ahy. “This new wireless network will
also efficiently backhaul Enertel’s WinQ HotSpot
traffic, and extend capacity and coverage for its
ISP customers. These performance advantages will
further extend Enertel’s market share leadership
in wholesale services, and rapidly build subscriber
volume on its WiMAX-class network.” |
