QA Engineer

Required Skills and Experience

This is an intermediate to senior level position with testing responsibility for leading-edge WiMAX, industry standard broadband wireless networking solutions. You will assist in designing, implementing and maintaining a coherent, progressive testing strategy for our products. You will be responsible for studying and gathering internal and external requirements and specifications, specifying, designing, coding, debugging, integrating, and documenting high quality software for testing our solutions. A solid background in software testing techniques, methodologies, and networking is essential.

Test standard based networking protocol software, including but not limited to: VLAN, TCP/UDP, TFTP, VoIP, PPPoE, and policy based QoS. Design, develop, debug, deploy and maintain test script suites that automate the above tests, using appropriate tools. Write software test plans, test designs, and test documentation. Write correct and clear defect reports and enter them into the defect tracking system, clarifying defects reports as needed with Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support teams. Design, build, and maintain test benches to execute test plans. Conduct technical review of project and product documentation, tutorials, and support materials.

Position Requirements

BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines. 3+ years of technical experience in software product testing and automation. At least 2 years of experience in TCP/IP protocol testing; and a strong understanding of Ethernet, VLAN, Layer 2 Bridging/Switching, and Layer 3 Routing, NAT or PPPoE, VoIP, Traffic shaping (such as QoS, DiffServ, ToS), Packet Filtering. Solid experience with scripting languages such as Python/VBScript/JScript, TCL/Tk, PERL, Windows and UNIX/Linux based shell script. Comprehensive understanding and experience applying software testing methods, strategies, concepts, and tools, including functional testing, scalability testing, regression testing. Experience in designing, building and maintaining test benches for executing test cases in compliance with the test plan. Preferably experience with test lab and pertinent infrastructure architecture. Thorough experience with software development life cycles, product metrics and defect tracking systems. Strong oral, written and organizational skills. Self-motivation, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications: Working knowledge of VoIP IDAs, software or hardware gateways and their operations. Strong knowledge with network testing tools such as IXIA, Spirent SmartBits/Test Center, or IxChariots. Experience with packet analysers such as Sniffer Pro, Ethereal/Wireshark, and real-world operations of WiFi (802.11) or other wireless technologies.
